Vivant Creations wanted to develop a winter-themed range of homewares based around a new set of inspirational quotes and positive affirmations. Stephen had worked closely with Vivant on their other products, giving him a detailed understanding of their existing designs. He began by working through a selection of fonts and typeset arrangements for the quotes, then iterated on potential colour palettes to suit the winter theme. The outcome was a set of six compositions that captured the haunting beauty of winter while simultaneously celebrating the joy of life.

After the main compositions had been approved, Vivant directed Stephen on applying the designs to a range of homeware products such as these scented candles.

Vivant supplied Stephen with base stock illustration artwork, which he customised to suit the typographic compositions and colour palette of the winter theme.
Franklin developed a pattern for the exterior of the candle box packaging and produced the finished artwork to the print supplier’s specifications. Only three of the compositions were chosen for use with the scented candles.
