The Oceania Project needed to consolidate its video material, available on outdated VHS Tape or as short-form videos on the iWhales website and bring them together as a single collection in the DVD Video Format. To bring the covers to life Stephen utilised the brand identity design he created for The Oceania Project’s online fundraising store, iWhales. And combined this with the incredible whale and dolphin photography of Dr. Trish Franklin. The outcome was a cohesive packaging design that brought the range together, capturing the awe-inspiring nature of the Whales and Dolphins The Oceania Project filmed during their yearly research expeditions.

Stephen added a rich blue tone to all packs to balance out any colour differences in the photography and unify the look of the covers.

The iWhales branding was contained in a Humpback Whale shaped header lockup and wrapped around the spine, matching the design established on the iWhales website. The water pattern at the base served to further unify the design and provide an area for the video’s details.

The back of pack utilised full bleed images of Whales or Dolphins. A design established in the previous Angels of the Sea Video Cassette packaging. While the internal design introduced The Oceania Project and promoted the other videos in the collection. Also presented were flukes from the Humpback Icon Project – known individual Whales adopted by local communities on the East Coast of Australia.

The cover image was repeated in full bleed on the disc artwork for maximum impact and easy recognition of the case it belonged to.
